Marble Rim Gallery was originally founded as Scott Valley Creative Arts Guild by local artists and artisans who dreamed of having a gallery space to exhibit and sell their artistic creations, as well as host public events and activities to promote awareness, appreciation, and passion in our community for all types of artistic endeavors. This shared dream to open a gallery was realized at the initial opening on October 1, 1991, under the name Scott Valley Creative Arts Guild.

Volunteer participation has always been the life of Marble Rim Gallery. Members work together to jury items submitted for display to maintain a standard of quality. Exhibitions, window displays, and seasonal store decorations rotate under the collaborative design of members.
In addition to their artwork, members bring an array of knowledge, experience, skills, and community connection to the gallery. Each member who displays their art also works in the gallery and contributes their unique capabilities to manage gallery operations.

In April 2026, the gallery moved from Fort Jones to its current location, 448 Main Street in Etna, holding its grand re-opening Friday, May 1, 2026.
As in its Fort Jones location, the gallery continues to host monthly First Friday Open House receptions, ongoing exhibitions featuring local artists, as well as a variety of classes, presentations, fairs, and events.
These activities also provide local musicians a place to perform, giving community members a place to hear local music while viewing art created by local artists. When possible, these activities include food booths sponsored by local civic organizations or individual enterprises.

In 2005, the guild became a fiscally sponsored project of the Siskiyou Arts Council (SAC). It began operating under the name Marble Rim Gallery, in reference to the grandeur of the local Marble Mountain Wilderness, which boasts the magnificent Marble Rim.
Upon the discontinuation of SAC, Marble Rim Gallery became a sponsored project of the 501(c)3 non-profit, Scott Valley Theater Company, from October 2015 to the present.
Consistent with its origins and history, now, as a fiscal project of the 501(c)3 non-profit Scott Valley Theatre Company, the Marble Rim Gallery continues to serve as a platform for local artists to display and sell their work.
Organized as a co-operative, the gallery is operated by its members and supported in part through a percentage of the sales of members’ merchandise.
The gallery also raises funds through annual membership fees, booth fees for annual spring and December art fairs, fees for classes, occasional raffles of artwork, and donations received from featured non-member artists, patrons, and individual community members.
All funds go to meet the costs to run the gallery. To date, the gallery has been able to maintain its operations throughout the years.
